Financial education for young people 12 years and over

Money and finance mean different things to you depending on whether you are a child, a teenager or an adult. With a booked tour for school classes and youth groups as well as for individuals, we can cater for individual questions and age-specific expectations.

Detectives

4th to 8th grade (10 to 14 years)

The starting point for the detectives’ tour is a search for clues in the world of adults, the economy and society. Visitors learn why money exists and consider how they would spend and save it. Simple economic examples are used to make connections understandable.

Explorers

9th to 12th grade (15 to 18 years)

The explorers already have little prior knowledge. At the start of the tour, they take on the role of a 19-year-old and have to overcome the financial challenges of everyday life. It is shown that our wishes can often only be realized with the right financial decisions.

Expert:inside

Experts already have a certain level of economic knowledge. At the beginning of the tour, they are assigned the role of an adult. The different life situations – single, couple or family with children – illustrate the diversity of society and highlight the different scope for action in budget planning.

Getting Global

Visitors can follow the journey of an everyday product around the world on a globe of monitors. They circle the globe and learn about global connections, dependencies and economic influencing factors. Visitors recognize that their actions and decisions in a globalized world have consequences for people in other parts of the world.

John F. Kennedy once said ...

"There is only one thing in the long run more expensive than education: no education."

Wrap-Up

The wrap-up at the end of the tour provides space to discuss any unanswered questions. The facilitators summarize the content, interpret the results and moderate the collaborative exchange.

Accessibility

The FLiP in CoSA is designed to be barrier-free and accessible to everyone ‒ after all, financial education affects everyone!

All areas are thus wheelchair accessible and can be reached by a lift.

Tips for your visit

Step 1

If you want to visit as a school class or group, please register online in advance.

Step 2

No specific prior knowledge of financial matters is necessary. We have made extensive supplemental material available for download on our website so students and teachers can prepare for and follow up on the exhibition topics. We recommend visiting the exhibition from grade 5th onwards, as the exhibition requires a certain level of reading comprehension and arithmetic.

Step 3

Experiencing all stations of the FLiP in CoSA should take approximately 90 minutes. However, you can also just check out individual topic areas during your visit, and of course feel free to leave and come back to see the other areas at any time. If you have booked as a school class or group, please arrive on time for your appointment.

Step 4

If you are unable to attend a booked appointment as a school class or group, please let us know one week in advance if at all possible.

Step 5

Does your class or group require specialised accessibility options? Please make a mention of that when registering online.
